Across Washington, hundreds of thousands of people are without reliable, comprehensive healthcare due to immigration status, income, geography, employment status and other factors. These people are served by the healthcare safety net system, including free clinics like Neighborhood Clinic in Tacoma.
OVERVIEW OF POSITION
Neighborhood Clinic is an independent, nonprofit free clinic with an annual budget of $195,200, a paid staff of three, and more than 150 active volunteers, including licensed healthcare providers. We are looking for an executive director to work closely with our board of directors to lead our clinic with integrity, efficiency, and care, maximizing and growing our clinic’s ability to serve the community. This position may require work during weekday evenings when our clinic is open.
REPORTS TO: Neighborhood Clinic Board of Directors SUPERVISES: Neighborhood Clinic Staff
Fundraising and communications (45%): Keeping this work funded is a huge part of this job and includes developing new funding partners and keeping old partners engaged. This part of the job also includes maintaining our external-facing clinic communications via our website, newsletters, social media, any marketing materials, and other communications and outreach tools.
Clinic administration (35%): This includes all day-to-day functions that keep any organization running, like making sure that we are insured, all our filings are complete, interfacing with our contract bookkeeper on our financial records, and ensuring compliance in how we manage our human resources, working closely with our clinic coordinator.
Recruitment and supervision (15%): Recruit, supervise, support, and mentor our paid staff.
Board Support (5%): Communicate, report to, and partner with our board of directors.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Dedication to this work with a demonstrated sense of vision and commitment to our mission. We are seeking a clinic leader driven to address the healthcare needs of our community’s most vulnerable patients.
At least 3 years of executive level leadership in a nonprofit or public service setting involving healthcare, human, or social services for underserved populations.
Experience recruiting and managing paid and unpaid staff. 1
Experience working in partnership with a nonprofit board of directors.
A high level of computer proficiency, including with programs used to develop and disseminate communications, and for donor tracking. Knowledge of Google Suite, Canva,
Mailchimp and Little Green Light preferable.
Strong fundraising skills. Our fundraising includes events, grants, individual and corporate
Strong skills in budget development and management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Motivation to consistently ensure high quality care for the people we serve.
Familiarity with Washington’s healthcare safety net system.
Flexibility and adaptability. This work requires the ability to pivot.
Bilingual Spanish/English highly desired.
WHAT YOU WILL GET OUT OF THIS
This is a full time, 1.0 FTE, salaried position offered at $65,000 to $75,000 annually, depending on experience. We provide paid health insurance for salaried staff working more than 32 hours as well as paid time off, paid holidays, and a flexible schedule with the opportunity to telecommute for work not needed to be completed during clinic hours.
